Dance competitions, a festival of words, the return of the open-air cinema - these are just some of the plans for this year at the Centrum Spotkań Europejskich Światowid. The facility's management and staff also summed up the past year.
In terms of numbers, 2022 at the Światowid looks impressive: 194 realised events, 164,000 stationary viewers and 601,000 online viewers. This year's plans for the Centrum Spotkań Europejskich look just as good.
- Last year was both challenging and interesting, showing how Światowid is celebrating its 60th anniversary as an institution. Our motto was "Światowid Od Nowa" (Światowid from scratch) - said Antoni Czyżyk, director of the CSE Światowid. - We defined what we wanted to start implementing after the expansion.
- Since last year we have been implementing a two-year project co-financed by EU funds. As part of this project, we have purchased and are in the process of purchasing equipment to help develop our cultural offer, including lighting. We are in the process of finalising the purchase of a large multimedia screen to be used at our events. We have purchased equipment to create podcasts, to run film animation workshops. We "re-equipped" the digitalisation workshop with sound equipment - added Magdalena Czarnocka-Kaptur, deputy director of the CSE "Światowid". - We are also waiting for the evaluation of other projects.
So what awaits the residents of Elbląg in 2023? There will, of course, be dance competitions. On March 25-26, the Polish championships in standard and Latin Dance will be held in Elbląg. - This year, for the first time, these championships will be held under the auspices of the Polish Dance Sports Association. Until now, we have had the name of the Polish Dance Federation Championships - explained Magdalena Czarnocka-Kaptur.
The International Dance Festival "Baltic Cup" will traditionally take place in October. This year, it will be accompanied by the European Under-21 Championships in standard dances. This is the first tournament of the European Championship rank for this age category.
There will also be a lot going on in the basic area of Światowid's activity, i.e. culture. - We have a lot of plans. We don't know everything now, because a lot depends on the results of competitions, on whether we will receive funding - said Aleksandra Bednarczuk, the manager of the Social Activity Centre in Światowid.
The 25th "Czy to jest kochanie" Festival will take place in March. The festival will feature concerts by Edyta Geppert and Stanisława Celińska.
Meanwhile, the Regional Digitisation Workshop is looking at Nicolaus Copernicus. - We are a partner in the project of the Nicolaus Copernicus Museum in Frombork. In this way, our resources will be expanded by several dozen new objects - reveals Hanna Laska-Kleinszmidt, head of the Regional Digitalisation Workshop.
We are also preparing a return to open-air cinema screenings. - We have purchased a large inflatable screen. Certainly, after the pandemic period, we will be showing outside our cinema more often - explained Natalia Piotrowska, manager of the Światowid cinema.
