A press conference held today (21.02.) summed up the activities of Centrum Spotkań Europejskich Światowid in 2022. - It was a very successful and good year - assured Antoni Czyżyk, director of the institution. - The values we introduced through the reconstruction allowed us to manage our finances stably. It makes us very happy that financially we closed 2022 well and we enter this year with the hope that 2023 will not be worse.
Antoni Czyżyk admitted that 2022 was a busy year. - A larger number of audiences who visited us at the institution compared to 2021, a larger number of audiences we reached online, more projects realised than in 2021 - he said.
The year 2022 at Światowid is also about systematically improving and upgrading the infrastructure, taking care of the comfort and convenience of using the facility, as well as meeting the infrastructure requirements dedicated to people with disabilities. In the past year, we did not forget about projects developing artistic and educational passions for children, teenagers, adults and seniors. The Regional Digitalisation Workshop and Światowid Cinema were also able to show off their essential activities, and the Promyk Dance Centre carried out many sporting and dancing events - emphasised Antoni Czyżyk.
In 2022 CSE Światowid celebrated its 60th anniversary. - It was a time suitable for summing up, reflecting and reminiscing - added Antoni Czyżyk. - The institution prepared many thematic events, and the whole year was crowned with a gala.
We began our 60th-anniversary celebrations on 17 February 2022. At that time, we prepared a photo exhibition entitled. "Światowid wczoraj i dziś" (Światowid yesterday and today). The exhibition featured more than 60 unique, archival photographs from the "Światowid" collection and contemporary photographs of our institution taken by students of the Zespół Szkół Gospodarczych in Elbląg (from the faculty of photography and multimedia technicians). Another opportunity to learn about the history of "Światowid" was "Sobota z przewodnikiem" (Saturday with a guide). We joined the well-known action of the PTTK Elbląg Land Branch and on 2 July 2022 invited interested residents to visit the nooks and crannies of our institution that are inaccessible daily. On the front of the building, we unveiled a special plaque containing a short history of the 'Światowid' in three languages. This is a nod and at the same time encouragement for visitors to Elbląg to discover the history of the 'Światowid' and Elbląg's culture - said Antoni Czyżyk.
As the director recalled, the jubilee year was the occasion for a publication authored by historian Dr Tomasz Gliniecki.
During the conference, it was pointed out that the Regional Digitalisation Workshop has more than 800 digitised objects in its digital archive - from the smallest, such as coins or Viking amulets, to the largest, such as the windmill koźlak or sacred monuments, and is still developing.
