We get to know the rhythm of functioning behind the cloister from the perspective of novices, i.e. people who are at the initial stage of monastic life. Together with our protagonists, through the reduction of stimuli and the predictable rhythm of functioning, we embark on an arduous journey into the depths of the Order and ourselves. One part of it is meetings with mature monks, whose novitiate 35 years ago was immortalised in unique black and white footage. Viewing the archive images together by the older and younger monks allows us to enter into dialogue.

Together with his wife, orchestra concertmaster Sharon Goodnow, he is raising their daughter Petra. Lydia is also co-founder of a mentoring programme for young female conductors.
