Scouting holidays on the big screen

Lovers of Elbląg's history are reminded that the May meeting at Światowid Cinema with "Elbląg on the big screen" will take place exceptionally on the second Wednesday of the month - 10 May at 6 p.m. The theme of the screening will be "Nasze harcerskie wakacje" (Our scouting holidays).

The history of scouting in Elbląg began soon after the war, in October 1945. The first gathering in the Sailors' Housing Estate was organised by Jerzy Światkowski - a pioneer of Elbląg and Elbląg scouting. In 1996, Mr Jerzy told a journalist from Telewizja Elbląska (Elbląg Television) with great emotion about the creation and work of the first scout team and this recording will start the screening. Films and documentaries by Stefan Mula and Janusz Cydzik from the 1960s and 1970s will be screened: from the ZHP camp grouping in Augustów, the handing over of the banner to the Elbląg troop, Operation 1001 Frombork, the creation of the Elbląg Circle and scout rallies, instructor meetings and May 1st parades. We will hear "Ilfinki" in the soundtrack, a girls' vocal group led by Weronika Barszczyńska. The screening will conclude with a compilation of archive recordings of Elbląg Television from the last 30 years of activity of Hufiec ZHP Elbląg.
